Vidal Blanc was one of our original six wine offerings in 2001 and continued through 2011. Why did we stop producing it? Well, some simple economics. Vidal is the main component in Mist, our best-selling wine. We would often sell out of it before we were able to bottle another batch. In addition to that our small acreage of Vidal faced some challenges and wasn’t as productive as past vintages. So the decision was made to put all the Vidal into the Mist and forego crafting this delicious, niche wine.
Next comes 2019, a beautiful growing season along with our vigneron working through the Vidal’s challenges in the vineyard and we have one of the biggest Vidal harvests in a decade. Things may move slow in the vineyard, but they are worth the wait. The 2019 Vidal Blanc was certainly worth the wait. It is a wine Judy, and her good friend and fellow Vidal lover, Sally, would have enjoyed!
