Redbud’s History at Hickory Hill
Redbud is a rule-breaker, or at least how we make it is. Tradition tells us not to blend red wine with white wine, even though it was common several centuries ago. Yet that is exactly what Wendy did to create this dark rosé. Redbud joined the Hickory Hill wine list a couple of years after Wendy started here full time. Visitors wanted another sweeter wine, preferable red, or rosé. Roger tasked Wendy with this job and it was her first foray into making/blending wine, on her own. She even named it after her favorite tree, the eastern redbud. Visitors seem pleased with her efforts for over the years, Redbud has moved its way up to 3rd place for most sold. We hope Wendy keeps breaking the winemaking rules.
